ABOUT

Founded in September 2010, 17 Cox presented experimental and underrepresented visual ideas through its gallery, library and residence.  The mission was to improve artist careers, staff careers and encourage the local arts community.  The 17 Cox building is a former taxi dispatch headquarters in the the Goat Hill district of Beverly MA.

The downstairs gallery exhibited over 200 artists, and the upstairs apartment hosted dozens of residents and compiled over 1300 titles in its library.  17 Cox was run by an all-volunteer staff with in-kind support from local businesses like Montserrat College of Art, Steez Magazine, Mingo Gallery, Porter Mill and others.  After three and a half years of operation, 17 Cox closed business in April 2014.  This website is maintained as an archive of the many projects and artists involved.
